About The Event

“Starving to death-life isn’t for me”

Spiritual Conversations Working Alongside Adolescent Patients suffering from Anorexia Nervosa.

Join us for this important talk about the rise in referrals for Child & Adolescent Eating Disorders Services during the pandemic and how Anorexia Nervosa has the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness.

The talk will be taking place on Thursday 18th March at 6:15 pm, on Zoom

Elizabeth Anscombe will explain the link to depression and loss and how some young people with the illness have lost hope in life and relationships. She will explain how the psychotherapeutic work seeks to help the young person feel understood,  gives an opportunity to think about the meaning of life, and help them think about how to build hope for their future, understanding that this is a world where they can make a meaningful contribution.

Elizabeth Anscombe is the Lead Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Royal Free London CAMHS Adolescent Eating Disorders Service with over 10 years of experience in this area of clinical work.  Elizabeth also sees patients in private practice and is a Senior Lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic and Course Organiser for ‘Psychodynamic Approaches to Eating Disorders’. Elizabeth is a trained practitioner in Mindfulness with an interest in Christian meditation.

The event is free of charge.
